Student Council: The Student Council is the student government of the school. They may recommendations about school policy to the principal and perform helpful activities in the school and community. The Student Council meets every Wednesday after school. C. T. Joy Elementary student Council leaders organize activities and are community volunteers. Students in Grades 4 to 8 are eligible to become student council members. Homework Club: Meets after school every Tuesday to help students and to also provide a quiet place for them to complete their homework assignments. Junior Science and Humanities Symposium is offered for 8th Grade: Students complete scientific research and present their research at the symposium in Tsukuba City, Japan in March 2009. C. T. Joy Elementary School has recently been chartered for the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS). Students are selected by the faculty based on the Society’s criteria for membership. Students who were members of NJHS in the past will continue to be members here at our school. Art Club Grade K-2 and Grades 3-5 provides enrichment to students in Grades K-5, enrichment activities include various forms of art for each grade level. Foreign Language/Geography Club provides enrichment to students in Grades K-3. Enrichment activities include learning Spanish words/vocabulary. Additionally, students will learn about different Spanish countries and cultures. |
